Scrapjack!

I have been wanting to have some fun with Louise and the girls at Scrapjack for ages - when I saw this month's 'victim'- one of my all time favourite scrappers, Kate Mason - I knew I had to do it! Last night the stars were in alignment (blah blah) and I managed to make something!

I love oriental lillies. I photoshopped the main picture, used a napkin for the small lily image and used Kate's own acrylic stamp beneath the pink ribbon.
I also did a painting today for the first time in must be over 15yrs!

Note to self:

If I Had My Child to Raise Over Again

by Diane Loomans

If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self esteem first, and the house later.
I'd fingerpaint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less and know to care more.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.
I'd see the oak tree in the acorn more often.
I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.
I'd model less about the love of power,
And more about the power of love.

coming up for air...

Oh dear... where has the year gone? sadly into the abyss of time with all that could've -done blogging.

Here are a few all time favourite little pieces of inspiration:

William Henry Channing : To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury; and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.

and:
Mary Jean Iron : Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.

I have seen these before but thankfully Ali Edwards has collated them for my convenience!

for the record...

Patrick has started school and I wanted to record some of the funny little things he has said about school etc... 1. I am excited about school but I am worried that i wont have enough time to play.... 2. I'm friends with lucy but she doesn't seem very interesting (interested) in me... ( to which i reply thats ok darling we're very interested in you=big smile...) 3. I told on Marshall today... I told Mrs T_ _ ... (Me: what do you mean darling? ) You know like you tell me to go to the corner or go to my room... 4. not school - but funny anyway- Can we come out of the car with you to the shops mummy? but if you see something you like dont buy it, and dont but anymore clothes... you have enough nice clothes! 5. favourite thing at school is play time
Marcus: still obsessed with pretending to be an animal, wanting to be an animal rescuer when he grows up... so glad we have finally been able to get him some sort of pet.... (it's ok if I love it to bits too, isnt it?)
After a testing morning Marcus says to me:
"mummy I'm so happy" me: why? "because I love you so much"

Sophie: (time for bed sophie...) emphatic screams "NO! DONT WANT TO! WANT TO RUN AWAY!" i dread to think whar she will be saying when she is 15! thats all for now.

Off The Page and stuff to share

Does this count as OTP??? I rediscovered one of my earliest 'efforts'... This was once my Kindy and Yr 1 school case which then became my barbie box! I remember I painted it with leftover paint from a colour by numbers kit LOL!
The barbies surviving inside have had their hair cut and 'coloured' with watercolour paints - oh dear, oh dear. I recall that making things for my dolls was as much fun if not more fun than actually playing with them. Interestingly at age 2 Sophie LOVES to paint , draw and colour - no interest in dolls though!

In scrapping news my christmas LO made it into FK ... in a frame! it was a pleasant surprise to see it presented so.
I love pages without photos which is why there are a few here...Change and LOU are my recent efforts for ForeverAlways . They are in this months newletter.
need to post again soon about our big little boy starting school...

Big congratulations to Louise who has had some wonderful recognition of her talent - big hug and kiss xox to you!.

First post

Inspired by Amie's 1 year anniversary post I have decided totry blogging....
I have always had good intentions as far as diaries go, but never sustained the effort. It will be great to record some thoughts and memories as I can no longer rely on my brain to do it for me .... so here goes!
I wanted to post a pic of my beloved tea set (finally got the tea pot today)- I splurged a little and I feel about 5 every time I look at it or use it - so here's to a cyber cup with my friends far away - cheers and hugs to you ! x
